Only God’s Word Lasts Forever

Luke 21: 5-11
Rev 14:14-19 / Psa 96

“Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them.”
(Luke 21:8)

No stone upon a stone or throne
Can last on earth in God’s design,
Have faith, the Word of God alone
Will stand until the end of time.

Some of the disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said, “As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down.” They asked Him, “Teacher, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?” He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.” Then He said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.” (Luke 21:5-11)

Many are deceived by the Prince of Lies that success, wealth and fame are the only things in life that really matter. But the wisest men in history have taught us that no matter how rich or powerful you are, your life here on earth can be cut short at any given time. History has shown that not even the most powerful kingdom or the greatest leader ever survived the test of time. Only the Word of God will last until the end times.

The words that our Lord spoke baffled His generation — but only because they were meant for future generations of Christians to profit by. The irony is that the Jews had the Savior in their midst, but they could not comprehend His words of salvation, while we— thousands of years later— would see clearly that Jesus Christ is the only Way to God’s eternal kingdom.

Both today’s Gospel of Luke and the book of Daniel (2:31-45) speak about the coming apocalypse. We believe in these Holy Words of Scriptures because they are the Word of God Himself. Already the signs of the coming “end days” have started, and yet many still do not take these dire warnings seriously, and continue in their sinful lifestyles. We are fortunate who take the Word of our Lord to heart, and strive to sanctify our days by joining the Charismatic renewal. The thousands who joined the “Catchfire Prayer Rally” last Sunday were so immersed in the joy of the Holy Spirit that no anxiety or fear could ever invade that great assembly. As our prayer leader, bro. Bobby declared, all we have to do is offer to Jesus all of our hurts, energy, anxieties & aspirations, resources and transgressions (H.E.A.R.T.), and God will take care of them for our sake and for His glory.

We thank You, Father God, for the success of our “Catchfire Rally” last Sunday where our Charismatic communities came together to celebrate the feast of Christ our King. We were empowered by Your Holy Spirit to spread Your Word and win more souls for Your kingdom. We glorify You in Jesus’s Name. Amen.
